16th Annual Great Pumpkin Festival
and Weigh-off Saturday, Oct. 6 - Sunday, Oct. 7,
2007 Events Schedule
Allardt's Sixteenth Annual Great Pumpkin Festival and Weigh-off
is set for Friday, October 5 through Sunday, October 7. Food
and crafts vendors will be set up in Allardt's Bruno Gernt Park
on Friday evening, all day Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
"Pickin' in the Park" will be featured on Sunday with
traditional musicians (acoustic) performing under the trees and
prizes awarded to crowd favorites.
Kick-Off Ceremonies
Friday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. at Allardt City Hall. Introduction
of Pumpkin Beauty Contest winners. This year's Great Pumpkin
Festival King and Queen will be announced. Winners of the Decorating
Contest will be present to receive their awards. Refreshments
will be served.
Pumpkin Run
Saturday - Registration 7 to 7:45 a.m. at Allardt School with
start time at 8 a.m. Categories of entry are 10K run, 5K run,
3K run, and 1 mile Fun Run. Entry fee is $15 for the 10K, 5K,
and 3K runs and $5 for the 1 mile Fun Run. (family rate 3 or
more $40 total). Sponsored by YAI VICA organization.

Children's Costume Contest
10 a.m. Saturday on stage at City Hall lawn. Registration
at 9:30 a.m. Categories: Ages 0-2 years; 3-5 years; 6-8 years;
9-12 years; and group. Any costume theme acceptable. No live

Weigh-Off of Pumpkins and Other Vegetables
Saturday, Oct. 6. Register your pumpkins, squash, watermelons,
and other large vegetables from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Allardt
Express Market. The actual weigh-off will take place there between
10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Top three pumpkin winners will be awarded
$400, $300, and $200 in prizes. Other cash awards will be given.

Car Show and Rod Run
Saturday from 9 a.m. - 2 pm at the 4-Way Stop in Allardt.
Trophies to the top 25 vehicles. Call Floyd Cottle or Kevin Pollard
(Advance Auto Parts) at 931-879-1028 for more information. Registration
8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Entry fee is $10. All registrants eligible
for door prizes.
Tractor Show
Antique Tractor Show on Saturday from 9:00 to 2:00 at the
4-Way Stop in Allardt. Call Shanatha Crisp at 931-510-2565.
Pumpkin Festival Parade
2 p.m., Saturday, Call Tammy Smith at 931-879-7919 to register
and for additional information. Parade entries will line up on
the Baseline Road. To line up, follow Highway 52 E from Allardt
past the orange water tower to the Les Franklin Road. Turn left
at the Les Franklin Road. Then enter the Baseline Road from the
Les Franklin Road only. The deadline for entries is noon Thursday,
Oct. 4.
Motorcycle Show
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at the 4-Way Stop, Allardt Land
Co. building. Pre-registration is not required. $10 entry fee.
Open to all. Trophies and ribbons to top three bikes in each
class. Special awards will go to the Best of Show and Loudest
Pipes. Harley Davidson: 1) Sportsters, 2) Dynaglides 3) Soft
tails, 4) Touring/Dressers, 5) Buel/V-Rod
Non-Harley: 1) Sport Bikes, 2) Cruisers, 3) Touring Bikes.
Open: 1) Radical Customs, 2) Antique (1981 or older), 3) Anything

Bake Sale and Silent Auction
9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday at the center shelter in the park.
Drop off donated items for auction at the center shelter between
8 and 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
Quilt Show
The Quilt Show will be held at the Allardt Presbyterian Church
Saturday 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Categories: Hand Appliquéd, Machine
Quilted, Hand Quilted, Wall Hanging, Quilt Top, Whole Cloth Quilt.

Open Talent Show 4 p.m. Saturday at Allardt City Hall
Registration deadline is 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Entry fee is
$3 for individuals and $5 for groups. The contests are open to
any non-professional talent. Adult groups may be semi-professional.
Only one song is allowed per entry per category. Prizes of $20,
$15, and $10 will be awarded in each class. $100 prize awarded

Crafts and Food Vendors Bruno Gernt Park, Saturday and
Sunday
All types of handmade crafts, dolls, wood crafts, floral crafts,
quilts, oil paintings, wall hangings, honey, T-shirts, Christmas
items, ornaments, yard art, ceramics, baskets, wooden toys, homemade
goodies. (All vendors not set up in the park must purchase a
vendor's permit at Allardt City Hall-$75 fee- and keep it at
their site during the festival.) Call 931-879-7125 with questions.
Entertainment - Saturday afternoon
Ronald McDonald will appear, courtesy of McDonalds in Jamestown.
Singer and guitarist Jeff Crouch, the Christian group Breath
of Life, Allardt Cloggers, and Grimsley Cloggers will appear.
Sunday Pickin' In the Park
Musicians and singers bring your acoustic instruments and
play at assigned locations under the trees. Musicians register
at Vendor Booth #4 in the park. Listeners will also vote for
their favorites at Booth #4at 50 cents per vote. Viewer's Choice
prizes (1st place - $200 prize; 2nd place - $100; 3rd place $50).
Fireworks Display in the sky over Allardt --7 p.m.
Saturday.
Barbecue at the Fire Hall Saturday only.
