Letter From Ollie Farris

The following is a portion of a letter Sandra Turner received from Ollie Farris of Cincinnati around 1966. It is believed that Mrs. Farris is now deceased. But her letter might provide a direction for anyone wishing to look further into the first Tinches to come to America.

"Years ago your grandfather's brother, Tim Tinch, wrote to me and told of one Englishman who came to America bringing a young man named George Tinch who married first Jensy Short and then Mary Jane Norman. This is my assurance of the English descent. I have searched English records and have never been able to make any connections as to who George's father was. I have Tinch records from England galore. But I need more than I have to prove what I need to know.

"I have emigrant records of one William Tinch who came from England into America on the boat "The Fortune." However, I cannot connect since I have not been able to go in search of these records.

"I have a few records from your ancestor Anderson's brothers Henry Franklin Tinch and Alexander George Tinch, both of Illinois. Their children or should I say grandchildren are scattered from Maine to California."
